Vouch for Your Needs

Hello. It's been a year since I last posted on this website. I guess it really has been a while. Many things have changed, my goals have shifted but so have my needs. I lost a friend, well let's triple that. Or maybe raise it to a power. While there was much lost, I gained more than what I lost.

I have a beautiful baby niece that is about to turn one year old. It makes me excited to see how she grows up. I am almost finishing my third semester of college, and that'll mean I will be halfway done with my undergraduate degree. I definitely don't feel prepared to jump to the next step, but it is never up to me what I want to do. I am also starting a relationship with Jesus Christ, and that has been helping me a lot. To see myself where I was last year compared to now, I am surprised. I thought there was going to be more of a crowd around me, but the chances of that happening soon are miniscule. Oh yeah, a pandemic occurred this year as well. 2020 has been a confusing, different year. Yet somehow, I'm comforted by it.

I am starting to drop new music. Slowly but surely. The first single of my 4th studio album released about 2 weeks ago and it was my biggest streaming week to date. I felt so supported when I saw many people repost my song, DM'ing me congratulating the song's release, and the message behind it. I would say writing this album has been the most difficult. It's almost like if there's no words to summarize how God has moved His hand across these 12 tumbulous months. I have written more than half of the album (titled And Then There's You) and I have received some help from one of my new friends. She has been a great help, from FaceTiming her when I have a new melody to even asking her to duet in a song with me. I am happy to say I have made new friendships in Austin, but also back home. I discovered it doesn't matter the amount of people you text on a daily, but the ones who are always cheering you on. The ones who invite you to go out and play Frisbee with, or those who tag along on runs and motivate you 24/7.

All my life I've wanted to be like other people, drink and smoke and party. I am no saint of course. I have been tempted and given in these dark, mysterious things. I am not clean, and I don't think anyone in the room is. But what is crazy about this is that I am willing to learn from my mistakes and be someone people can look up to. If I can do it for at least ONE person, then I have already won.

If you are out there, doing worldly things and feeling lost, please do not give up or fall into those lifestyles. I am here as a source of support and I can guide you to the one who gives us everything. God knows who we are more than we know ourselves. I am not the most Christian person in the world and will never be, but I try my best. There's something special in that and I advice you to do the same.

If you need guidance on where to start, I suggest reading the book of John. A marvelous introduction to Jesus Christ and you can feel His light in the first few chapters. 2020 may have been a rough year for most of us, but try to find the good things about it. I could have made this entry a sob fest and list everything that went wrong. But that is not the point of the life we are living. Take time to listen to yourself and always vouch for your needs. Remember, don't be who YOU want to be, but who HE wants you to be.

Take care, you mean something to someone.
